My guess is you thought about it, but they don't pay enough. So the market is clearly sending you a signal that for pay above the commodity code commit, a premium goes to those who also show up and communicate successfully. If you are well paid, you can safely bet it is for more than just your code commits. I think you've got an overly simplified view of reality that you hold onto at your own professional peril.
