Totally disagree and I am rather dismayed by people conflating their bad experiences with people over-engineering with these principles. They are like anything else a good they are good rules of thumb when scaffolding your projects. Understanding IoC with DI has cleaned up my code soo much and I know it works as I can Unit Test easily.
