If you calculate a linear trend from subsets and get largely different results, a linear trend though the entire data set is only meaningful if you have several cycles of data. I would argue we do not have several cycles of data.

- jhanschoo 8y agoThanks for the link! That looks like a good read. What kind of cycles are we talking about? I'm under the notion that typically the only effect that should not be captured should be seasonal change with yearly periods.
