Congrats on the launch, really neat idea.
It looks like the product is not yet ready, and it is just a collection of HTML/CSS templates at the moment (as already stated in the FAQ). As I understand, there is no process which turn designs into code right now, and this statement from the upgrade page seems like an outright lie:
> Some features, such as the AI based trace-and-export, are pretty heavy on our servers and start getting expensive fast.
since How does shots work? section in the same page does not mention anything about uploading, and the Upload a shot page simply redirects to an Airtable form.
I love the idea of launching early, but is giving the false impression that the product is ready, and charging for a subscription on top of that really ethical? You may claim that you are actually charging for accessing your collection, but it does not appear that way from your homepage and links shared on PH and HN. Please do not mislead people.
- talltimtom 8y agoHah, that’s just golden. “We have this amazing feature X however we have to charge you a lot already because the server load of feature X is extremely high.... also feature X is not available yet”
- kankles 8y agoMy guess is that there is currently no actual image to code functionality, given that all designs are 'curated' and attempting to upload your own results in simply being added to their sales/mailing list
- wizkid777 8y agoyes, just looks like another textbook scam to get your money before you even get to see how well the product works. Thank you, next.
- hnmonkey 8y agoIt's interesting that the OP is only responding to positive/glowing comments and ignoring the others even though some of the positive ones are the newest out of all the comments. Doesn't instill a lot of confidence in my opinion. Edit: I'm curious OP if you read this what the comment in your profile means and what someone looking at your website should glean from it: '"I wish I had sexual relations with that man" - Bill, probably'
- titanomachy 8y agoIt's a riff on Bill Clinton "I did not have sexual relations with that woman [Monica Lewinsky]"
- JoblessWonder 8y agoThe launch page is literally titled "Import Screenshots: Export code." [0] According to their documentation, you have no way of importing screenshots. What a joke. I hope OP responds to these posts because this looks like a MVP where they decided to pivot to pre-selected "curated" UI's when they realized their AI didn't work as expected with uploads. - acro5piano 8y agoYeah it looks MVP or test marketing. Their technology is actually the core.

- minalrock 8y agoReposting this because I feel like my comment was hidden by the company. Speaking of ethical, this product seems to be very similar to another product, Crane.ai and it seems like the CEO of the company that developed Crane.ai, has commented below.
- wizkid777 8y agoYeah this looks the same as Crane AI, and their ethics seem very questionable https://www.glassdoor.com/Reviews/Employee-Review-Crane-AI-RVW23397860.htm https://www.glassdoor.com/Reviews/Employee-Review-Crane-AI-R...
- sctb 8y agoWe've banned this cohort of sockpuppet commenters/voters.
- one_who_knows 8y agothe only sockpuppet is the person who posted this article
- wizkid777 8y agowhat do you mean by sockpuppet commenter? genuinely asking
- who_knows_one 8y agoWhy did you ban commenters/voters based on comments that seem to have validity behind it? Did you inspect the comments that were lauding the product and not find it odd that OP was only responding to them instead of this highest voted feed?
