Feature decomposition is an antipattern. This is not related to JIRA. Features are the result of integration of systems. Starting with features is insane. Design the system, then integrate parts of the system to create features. I don’t think prose is the answer, but it certainly sounds better than starting with features. If you get the chance I’d recommend taking the architect/project design master classes by Jowal Lowy. If you can stand the delivery the message is extremely on point.
