Aside from losing magsafe this is my perfect Mac.
- rbanffy 8y agoThe other day two MBPs were running out of battery during a meeting. We plugged one into the room charger and plugged the second one out of another USB-C port on the first one. I miss MagSafe, but USB-C is seriously cool.
- xutopia 8y agoWait... you can charge a MBP with another MBP?
- sbuk 8y agoAbsolutely. I still lament the retirement of magsafe, but USB-C is a considerably better standard than USB-A.

- SlowRobotAhead 8y agoI dont know if that works, but a difficulty of USB-C has been the power profiles and who charges what and when. It’s weird, and I would think the potential would have to be way different between the two laptops but according to the spec it can work.
- FBISurveillance 8y agoYou can charge MacBooks from each other. * First laptop you plug one end of USB C cable in will the the charger; * Second laptop will be the one getting charged.
- hartator 8y agoInfinite energy.
- SlowRobotAhead 8y agoYou’d have to plug them in at exactly the same time though.

- rbanffy 8y agoNot only that. At some point I disconnected mine from the room charger and the second one almost drained my battery. My laptop charged my colleague's
- aaaaaaaaaab 8y agoWould they at one point reach equilibrium though?
- rbanffy 8y agoI confess I was a bit upset mine got bled dry. It should defend itself better.
- Splendor 8y agoUSB-C is cool but there's no reason they couldn't make a MagSafe USB-C port.
- saagarjha 8y agoSeems kinda hard to design for a port that is significantly deeper than MagSafe was.
- sorahn 8y ago3rd party companies make these[0]. It's a little plug into the USB-C port, then a break away cable. My only complaint about the usb-c is that they're on the same side. I've gotten used to flipping back and forth on my mbp for plugging it in. - finchisko 8y ago39 buck. kind of too expensive for what it is.
- LeftTurnSignal 8y agoI had that same cable before and ended up going back to the normal usb c cable for charging my Pixel. It worked, but it seemed to take 2x - 3x longer to charge using that cable than a normal USB C cable. I never tried it on anything else though, so I'm not sure if I had a bad cable or not. It worked, it just charged very slowly compared to normal cables.
- olivier_martel 8y agoOnly missing the usb-c port on either sides.
- saagarjha 8y agoThis was probably done to only require a single Thunderbolt controller.
- asdff 8y agoYou can't run a ribbon wire to the other side?
- deleted 8y ago[deleted]
- SmellyGeekBoy 8y agoOr even traces on the motherboard, if the thickness of the ribbon cable is an issue
- saagarjha 8y agoFor Thunderbolt? It would probably introduce too much of a delay.
- wilsonnb3 8y agoIt’s basically identical to the 13” MacBook Pro without TouchBar that’s been around for 2 years.
- zepolen 8y agoYou haven't used the new macbook keyboard have you? Stay far far away.
