    I don’t think Apple Music for Android was a play for Android users. It’s more of away not to be at a disadvantage when Apple is trying to sell a Family Plsn for Apple Music to a family of mixed Android/iOS users. Back in the day, people didn’t realize the competitive advantage it gave MS to have a version for Macs. They could sell into large enterprises that may only have 5-10% Macs with a cross platform offering. Their competitors couldn’t.

      You're absolutely right! And I hadn't thought about MS Office for Mac in that way before; thanks!
