I keep thinking, surely Intel and AMD were internally aware of spectre. How could they not foresee it?
- acdha 8y agoThe same way most security bugs happen: people are focused on making the expected results happen. The skill of thinking about how something could creatively be abused is hard to cultivate – theoretically this class of bugs has been around for decades but it wasn’t publicly exploited until now.
