I've been considering building something very similar myself! I hope it turns out well, and do write a post about it!
- shakna 9y agoI burnt out two cheap touchscreens after failing to follow poorly translated docs. So, I gave up on doing it myself, and got a PocketCHIP. (Cost effective, but less exciting). It's not a terrible piece of kit.
