Facebook already has similar functionality. Being in Australia, if I visit a large multinational companies Facebook page, it will redirect to the local page. Going to facebook.com/mcdonalds will redirect to facebook.com/mcdonaldsAU. I'm sure they could make it redirect anywhere they want.
