- jason_tko 9y agoHi there! Thanks for doing this. Yes, confirmed - however we announce the meetups on these pages: Meetup.com https://www.meetup.com/Hacker-News-Tokyo-Japan/ https://www.meetup.com/Hacker-News-Tokyo-Japan/ Doorkeeper https://hntokyo.doorkeeper.jp/ https://hntokyo.doorkeeper.jp/
- anton_tarasenko 9y agoI've updated your links. Thanks!
- sdrothrock 9y agoWhat are the meetups usually like, content-wise? Another user commented that they seem more like mixers -- is there any scheduled content at all?
- jason_tko 9y agoWe have announcements in the middle for around 15 minutes where anyone can stand up and say something to everyone. Aside from that, it’s a pretty free flowing, friendly mixer event.
- RyanHamilton 9y agoI went to this event a year or two ago, I happened to be passing through japan. It's a very friendly event, real mix of different tech / startup presentations. Would highly recommend it if you're in the area :)
- ValentineC 9y agoCurious, because HN discussions are mainly in English: are conversations mostly in English or Japanese? How's the ratio of locals to foreigners?
- pwim 9y agoAlmost all participants are English speakers. Typically 70 or so of the participants are non-Japanese.
- ekianjo 9y agoThere's HN Kansai too. http://www.hnkansai.org http://www.hnkansai.org https://www.meetup.com/Hacker-News-Kansai/ https://www.meetup.com/Hacker-News-Kansai/
- comstock 9y agoThe Kansai one was really good, felt more tech focused and had great talks when I went. The Tokyo meetup was more of a mixer last time I attended. Personally didn’t enjoy it as much.
- sgrove 9y agoI've not been to the Tokyo meetups, but I certainly enjoyed the HN Kansai meetup. I met some interesting people hacking on (somewhat niche) fun things - game dev, web design, cryptocurrency, etc. Definitely recommend it!
- JulianRaphael 9y agoThanks for doing this! I've created a meetup for Munich, feel free to add it to your list: https://www.meetup.com/Hacker-News-Munich/ https://www.meetup.com/Hacker-News-Munich/
