Crack-pot levels on high; For those who aren't familiar with Californian subcultures, it's pretty much THE home for cults in the US. Given that background, with how cults work, and the fact that they're saying they're planning on keeping tabs on "who's who" ...this is pretty alarming.
- camuel 9y agoIt is claimed to be also an open-source project and meritocracy is common with open-source projects and github has the required automatic infrastructure for this "keeping track".
- locality 9y agoIf that's true then that's just insane to call it "open source"; presumably like other religious bodies, it would only be open to people who'd want to hear their message. His plan is to get VC-free money through donations from AI professionals (that he will try to recruit grass-roots style) that he can convince to buy into his vision of a super AI that they will all then create "in faith" that will also apparently begrudge anyone who didn't help in its creation. Its like a bad spin on Battlestar Galactica where he's trying to create favoritism with the yet-to-exist Cylons that he will simultaneously usher in.
