I have this bad habit where I don’t do side projects for me, but for work. I get excited about ideas I have to improve our product/infrastructure at work (I’m an SRE) and given that I am more or less autonomous I work on those instead of some personal GitHub project. This means that I write a lot of software out of hours that makes it to production, is well tested and maintained, but I could never show it off in an interview. I need to break the habit, but I just don’t get the time during the week to work on this stuff.
