I've been using a Firefox add-on for this https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/update-scanner/ https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/update-scanne... It works quite well but there's not much in terms of excluding content. When I needed to do that I just ran it through a simple script that filtered for me (Node.js).
