So nowadays app means a website.

  It's a web app if it works on the WWW and requires JS to work. Otherwise it's a website. That is how I classify them anyway.

    So an electron based JS client for a cloud service Accessed over the WWW is a web app (not a simple app. although I'd prefer if those were also not referred to as apps)? But a JS heavy website is an app.
