Let's also consider how many lives that fuel-based transportion saves. How many people would die of starvation if you outlawed internal combustion engines? How much would clothes cost? Food? I'll remind you electric engines cannot easily transport 1000-tons of goods across a transcontinental railroad.
- eggs_and_avo 9y agoListen to yourself. Edit: Nobody is suggesting that cars be made illegal. But pretending (yes, pretending) that bicycles, even e-bikes, are a threat to the safety of pedestrians is not supported by any facts or statistics. It seems disingenuous to ignore the elephant in the room: Drunk driving accounts for approximately half of all pedestrian fatalities in the US. When talking about pedestrian safety, it's ridiculous to devote resources to activities that don't comprise any significant portion of pedestrian deaths. Talking about bicycles as a real problem for pedestrian safety is nothing but an emotional circle-jerk.
