A free, self-guided study program for software engineers in San Francisco
- jbenn 9y agoFinally, a Recurse Center in SF. How it doesn't already exist here is beyond me.
- jmlr 9y agoFor those that don't know, Recurse Center[^1] is a self-directed, 12 or 6 week free programming retreat in New York City. I'm currently enrolled, and my batch is finishing this week. - aleksharma12 9y agoIt's capped by your own motivation and desire to learn things? Doesn't really seem like a catch to me.
- ozanonay 9y agoNothing... it'll be cheap (and fun) for us to run, and paid for out of our regular courses. We just think the community needs it.
- orayward 9y agoI don't think there is one. "For the first batch, we’ll select a group of approximately 10 participants, based on our expectation of who will make the most of the opportunity and enhance one another’s work." I think that Bradfield is trying to optimize for long term success by creating a strong community in the short/mid term.
- jtth 9y agoYou have to be rich enough to not need to work.
- suyash 9y agoThe catch is that they will try to sell you their paid courses, this a bootcamp school mind you. Look at their other offerings.

- sushiogoto 9y agoRecently took a month off in between jobs and took three of the classes offered by Bradfield. Would've jumped on this opportunity if they were offering it at the time!

- luord 9y agoSomething tells me that, in this, "software engineer" probably doesn't mean the same thing it did in my university. What would a person with a degree in CS (or related) get from this program? Honest question.
