That's not helpful for a wide range of use cases. The most recent one I ran into was running an irc server that would be compatible with the matrix irc bridge, see https://github.com/matrix-org/matrix-appservice-irc/issues/208 https://github.com/matrix-org/matrix-appservice-irc/issues/2...
