This year I retired a Pentium III co-located 1U server. RedHat -> Ubuntu 6.0 Dapper Drake -> 8.04 Hardy Heron -> 12.04 Precise Pangolin. Upgraded the memory to 512MB from 128MB and replaced the two 6GB hard drives with 80GB drives. All this thing did was rsync and do SOCKS5 over SSH on port 53 (which was very useful until ~2012).
Co-location was free for this thing, which kept it in service far longer than it should have been. It was nice to keep the same hardware functional for that long.
