1) The purpose of HN posts on Lisp is to fellate pg, nothing more.
2) One of the big reasons Lisp has failed commercially is that expert programmers create their own personal libraries, which cannot be taken to the next employer for legal reasons. So all that effort is wasted.
- codemac 10y agoWhy is #2 only true for Lisp? I've seen it true for every job I've ever had.
- lmm 10y agoIn Lisp things that would be syntax in other languages are libraries instead, so the impact is bigger.
- nothrabannosir 10y agoMate I like reading about lisp and I couldn't give 2 craps about pg. HN has gone beyond yc and pg quite a while ago.
