Ask HN: Do you own or partner on a brick-and-mortar small business?

I would love some day to take the money I've made in development and open a small neighborhood business (print shop, restaurant / bar, cafe, book store), ideally partnering with someone more knowledgeable who could put in the "sweat equity" It would be something I'm passionate about and would enjoy doing, ideally a non-franchise, but that's it. Has anyone bought a low-six-figure or smaller stake in a small business not intended to scale? How did you find the opportunity? Did you partner with someone and how has that experience been?
