This was true in the past but, I was under the impression that you could run the server version of OS X on non-mac hardware.

No mention that it is legal to run the server version of OS X on non-mac hardware.
- Xophmeister 11y agoIANAL, but is contract infringement actually illegal? It may not be without consequence, but it is against the law?
- amyjess 11y agoIIRC, it's illegal according to civil law but not illegal according to criminal law.
- progmal1 11y agoMaybe I should have been clearer. In the past you were not allowed to run OS X server in a virtual machine on non-apple hardware because of licensing restrictions. They loosened this restriction so that you can run OS X server in a virtual machine on non-apple hardware. Those sources are irrelevant to that. I was responding to "Meanwhile there is no amount of money Apple will accept from you to run a mac vm on non Mac hardware." And this is not true for OS X server.
- brazzlemobile 11y agoAs far as I know the only restriction they loosened was the number of VMs you could run on Apple hardware. OS X server hasn't been an actual version of their OS for a while, it's just an app in their store now. That said, I would be thrilled to be proven wrong about this.
